The short version: your training log never reaches the developer. It stays on your device and in your own private iCloud database. GymGrove does collect anonymous crash reports and a small number of anonymous usage counts, and nothing in either is health data.
Everything you log — workouts, sets, weights, how each set felt, routines, custom exercises, and your per-exercise settings — is stored on your device. If you turn iCloud sync on, it is also stored in your own private iCloud database, under your Apple Account, so your devices can read it. The developer has no access to that database and no ability to read, export, or recover anything in it. There are no GymGrove accounts and no GymGrove servers holding your log.
With your permission, GymGrove writes your finished workouts to Apple Health, including duration and, on Apple Watch, the heart rate and active energy recorded during the session. It reads body mass and body fat percentage so that bodyweight and assisted lifts can be counted correctly and charted.
Health data is used only on your device, to show it to you and to compute your own numbers. It is never transmitted to the developer, never sent to any analytics or crash reporting service, never used for advertising or marketing, and never shared with third parties — in accordance with Apple's HealthKit requirements. You choose which categories GymGrove may access and can change or revoke that at any time in the Health app under Apps & Services.
GymGrove uses Google's Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics, which are disabled in development builds and active in the version you install from the App Store. They collect:
What is not sent: exercise names, weights, reps, how a set felt, routines, notes, dates, body mass, or anything else read from or written to Apple Health. No name, email address, contact information, or precise location is ever collected. Deleting the app deletes its local data; you can also reset the Firebase identifier by deleting and reinstalling.
If you turn on rest-timer alerts or routine reminders, they are scheduled locally on your device. Nothing about them leaves it.
GymGrove is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
GymGrove is not a medical device and provides no medical, diagnostic, or treatment advice. Its weight and rep suggestions are arithmetic over the sets you logged and the answers you gave, and they are always a suggestion you can overrule. For any health or injury concern, consult a qualified professional.
Because the developer holds no identifiable data about you, there is nothing to request a copy of or to have deleted. Your log is under your own control: delete the app to remove it from a device, and turn off GymGrove in Settings → your name → iCloud to remove it from iCloud. If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
